Mother Receives Help
Over two years ago, I was experiencing extreme postpartum depression. I had lost all hope since the baby was two weeks with the full-blown colic (inconsolable crying...flat out screaming ALL day and night). NOTHING worked. I would meditate on scriptures day and night, circle the couch while wearing him in a sling with praise music on, but still felt so dead and thought God wasn't hearing me or going to help me. I actually told my husband, "Unless you want to see your wife on CNN Headline News, I would come home from work NOW!" He's a firefighter and would work long shifts and days at a time. And, as much as I didn’t want to mean that or do anything stupid, I actually did mean it with all my being, which made it even worse. That’s how hopeless I was. I saw no way out. Here comes the good part. I was invited to the church for a luncheon for young moms to get together hosted by Cammy, Michelle and Catherine. Everything was stopping me from going, mainly the thoughts that no one could help and people will only give me advice that would put me in deeper despair. I went anyways, after crying all night and morning while tending to my two-year-old and colicky three-month-old (Isaiah and Christian). Cammy, Michelle and Catherine greeted all us moms and blessed us with food and talk. At the end they asked if we needed prayer. I opened up and sobbed (while wearing and bouncing the baby as usual) and they prayed over me and instantly my heart rose with hope and life. I went home encouraged and my husband said, "You're eyes are different.” I woke up the next day and had a spring to my step and everything was in vivid, radiant color. Before it was black and white and all I wanted to do is crawl into a hole a die. I am so thankful for that day where my world changed from darkness to light. Praise God! From then on, the young moms started a prayer cell with all the kiddos in tow. Oh and the best part of this story is that within a few days there was a woman at the park who was crying with a baby in her arms. I talked a bit with her and then told her that I’ve been going through the same thing and asked her if I could pray over her. She said, “Yes, please” and I spoke the same exact words the ladies prayed over me with. I never had prayed over anyone in a public setting before so this was huge for me. We exchanged numbers and to this day visit at the park. And, we now have another woman, who witnessed the whole thing, start attending our church with her family after asking, “Where do you go to church?” WOW, trickle effect! I have a third baby boy now, Jadon, who is such a joy. My first baby with no colic. Such a great blessing! Thank you Jesus, Jubilee and ladies!
