“And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.” – 2 Peter 1:9

In John 1:5, we find the advent story of Jesus’ coming, but from a much more heavenly explanation of what’s happening.

5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:5

By now, most of us know that the word ‘comprehend’ would be better translated overcame or overtook. Once this Light pierced and started to shine like it did, there was no overcoming it.

1 John 2:8 says, 8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. 9 He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. 10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.

Therefore, Love is a simple way to stay in Light.

How do we test to see if we are in love?

  1. Who are you suffering long with?
  2. Who are you enduring?
  3. Who are you being kind to?

…That’s love. Everything else is affection.

Affections come and go, but love suffers long and is kind. That is a part of what we are commanded to walk in. When we are in this, we may feel the victim, but we are not. We are actually victorious, because we are in Christ, and we are walking in Light.

Please read 2 Peter 1:16-21; it is powerful.

2 Peter 1: 19 says, 19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

The word of God became light through Mary’s womb. It was made flesh and dwelled among us that the darkness did not overcome. It is now in us through the words that we’ve heard, and the belief that Jesus Christ is inside of us. He’s the hope of glory.

But to many of us, we will find ourselves holding what feels to be a very light that is just shining in a very dark place. Sometimes we feel that it is the dark place around us, sometimes it’s the dark place inside of us. This does not really matter because it is shining. We do well to hold and value it, because there is a day dawning and a Morning Star that is going to rise in our hearts.

In Revelation 22, Jesus said that He is that Bright and Morning Star.

We are going to see the advent of Jesus, as He came into the earth covertly into the flesh of a woman and became a Man. He was born into a city that no one understood. He is coming into His church. He is going to be revealed, and seen in us. We are in the advent of this. We are in this moment in time. It is happening now.

You are getting more beautiful than you’ve ever been in your life because Jesus is rising up. Jesus is rising! I was standing in the back during worship and I was looking at our congregation. I thought, “How do people get so good looking?” I realized that what I am beginning to see, more and more, is that I see people’s spirits. I see the radiance of your countenance. You can be old and wishing you had the body you did when you were twenty—but you can be radiant in light. This is because your spirit is progressively getting more brilliant. It is not aging, like it started, brilliant and now dimming. It actually starts small, as a small light and begins to become brilliant. This is what is happening, right now. Hallelujah!

In 2 Corinthians 4: 6, there is much written about light.

6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6

This is what we are about. This is what is happening. We can see the darkness all around us, or we can hold onto the light that He has given us. This light will prevail and will continue to grow.

The face of Jesus is all that we have to see for glory to be revealed. This is why Hell does everything to keep us from the face of Jesus.

2 Corinthians 10 talks about the warfare, the birth of the mature church, and the coming of the Lord in His glory, through a glorified church.

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. 2 Corinthians 10: 3-6

In breaking this down we would say that the war is what we can see in the second heaven, we can experience in our own souls. Just as our souls, our minds, our will, our emotions, our whole framework, and imaginations are assailed against.

  • Thoughts become arguments.
  • Arguments grow into strong holds.
  • Soon they imprison us.

We may be living in a free country. We are free to do whatever we choose, but we cannot do anything because we are bound inside. We may say, “That’s awful. We ought not to be.”…But, we all are.

But there is something powerful. These weapons that God has given can liberate—this Light. Paul says that whenever the obedience has been fulfilled, as soon as we get in line and think a thought, then immediately God can releasethe captivity that we were in, just a moment before.

It is so much about thinking and being able to think a new thought or see a new way.

Obedience literally means: To come under the voice of, to come under someone’s voice.

When we come under God’s voice, something begins to happen to all of us. There comes this surge of power.

I believe that one of the things we are going to see in these last days are believers walking about in love, joy and peace. We are carriers of peace and good will.

Matthew 1:18 18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.

This is what we are. We are with child by the Holy Spirit—the birth of Christ again in the Body.

When these things begin to happen, we will be liberators. We won’t even try to liberate. We will be freely receiving and freely giving. We will just be moving in a sound.

On Tuesday, I was with the Lord. As I was with the Lord, He spoke to me. He showed me a vision, actually it was a movie clip that He showed me. He showed me a scene in The Lord of the Rings, the second one, the Two Towers movie. When I saw it, I thought that this was a descriptive moment. It is a scene of liberty.

There is a scene in the movie that depicts how the king is possessed by a foul spirit as well as “usurping of authority”.

In the movie, the king has all authority, but lost the use of any of it. This was because he was under the influence, the reinterpretation and false alliances. It is in so many ways, the imagery of how we get pulled in, seduced, shut down and taken out of our calling to be reigning on earth with Jesus. It becomes obvious, but it gets super convoluted and complicated.

Romans 8

I want to introduce a thought that has revolutionized my life in the last few years, ever since the Lord really called me up to sit with Him.

We are talking about being able to live from a higher place—to live from heaven, not earth to heaven, but from heaven to earth.

Once I understood this, I began to understand that the war in heaven in Revelation 12, with the dragon, the serpent, diablos and with Satan, which is all the same being. Which is the idea of the fascinating one, the deceiving one, the slanderous one and the accusing one. Once he has been displaced, there then comes an expression of salvation, authority, kingdom of God and the authority of Christ. It just dawns and this is what happens once you displace the accuser from allowing him to whisper in your ear and speak of you in an unkind manner, in an un-Christ-like way.

You see, I am in Christ. My language can be good; my language can be not so good. I may pronounce words correctly or I may not pronounce words. It does not mean a thing to God.

In all fashion, we have been seduced because we were brought down to another level of warring. We were brought down to the levels of law, ceremony, morality and behavior, observance and to do—to which we have been put behind the cross, back to trying to become better people. Therefore we are available to be always accused, because all of us are falling short of that in any case, any time, anyway.

So, if that is indeed what he is doing in keeping me chasing my tail, what really is the war over? What is he really trying to accomplish through his influence against us, through his offenses toward us, through breaches in our families, through failures in our decisions? What is the thing that he’s after? Because if we know what he is after, you can say, “No!”

Here is something very simple, found in Romans 8:

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:31-32

It all flows in the giving and forgiving. Now here are the points of conflict. We have to reverse our thought. Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God Who justifies.

Accusation is the main battle entry point.

Accusing, challenging, questioning, accusing, the pointing of the finger. It is rampant in our minds and, too often, in our mouths. We actually join in with the accuser. The accuser is the entry point. Once accusation begins to be considered, we are going back behind the veil of what Christ accomplished.

God justifies. God justifies. The blood is my answer! Who is he that condemns?

The difference between a charge and being condemned, is:

A charge is brought to court because you are being accused of a crime or a failure to complete something.

Condemnation is when you are found guilty and now you’re punished to pay for that. So, it is worse but it follows the charge.

Yet, “how can anyone be condemned?” it says… It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, One died for all and furthermore is also risen,, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Father has justified us. Christ has paid the penalty of all our sins—today, yesterday and forever. All paid for, once and for all! Therefore, we cannot be punished a second time.

These are radical thoughts because yes, we have consequences for our actions. The world is set up in such a fashion that as long as we walk on this planet we don’t really have to do much because it will catch up with us. But as far as eternity, as far as fellowship, as far as union, as far as enjoyment, as far as becoming and transformation, it is completely removed. This is why he says the last thing, which is the goal of hell in our life is: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

You see, once we feel separated from the love of God, we will do anything to try to get back into that sense of grace. And, somewhere we will be given a set of rules to observe. Once we observe those rules, we will continue to go through the circle of accusation, condemnation, separation. Accusation, condemnation, separation. Say it out loud: “Accusation, condemnation, separation.” This is the goal of hell. This is all hell is wanting to do.

What is he trying to accuse and condemn and separate? Us from God! God, who did everything so that we could not be accused, condemned or separated forever! So his goal is that he keeps us in this realm, when God says, “Stay in My realm.”

Let’s consider a thought found in 2 Timothy. How does change come?

22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife.

Picture the liberators of the planet that are about to appear.

24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:22-26

The power of hell is to capture us in arguments, thoughts, strongholds, and continue to hold those strongholds in our life. In America, we call it opinions. We get strong feelings about things and we get locked up. We can’t see the vista of deliverance. We shut down and we’ve got a little conversation going on.

And yet, the gift of God is repentance!

And the gift of repentance is:

  • To think a new thought,
  • To reconsider the thoughts we are thinking,
  • To reconsider a new conversation—The conversation is JESUS!

The goal of hell’s strongholds is:

  • To keep us from knowing Jesus.

If Jesus is not the vibrant life source of every moment of the day, then He is being removed from that gaze! It is here, in the face of Jesus that we see the glory of God.

  • If we don’t see the face of Jesus, there is no glory.
  • If there is no glory, there is no transformation.

No matter how good we are, we can be the most moral, outstanding citizens of the earth, the most giving people in the world, but we still are not Jesus. We cannot save the earth with our actions, but we can save the world through beholding, and the Lord being seen among us. Right?

The gift is repentance. It is to think, to consider. It is to BREAK OFF the influence!

If we want the influence broken off, start noticing:

  1. Where am I being accused?
  2. Where am I feeling condemnation?
  3. Where do I feel I am under a judgment, from where I cannot get free?
  4. What am I trying to do to get out from under some charge or some condemnation?
  5. Where do I feel unloved?

When we look at that, we consider and begin to say:

  1. I am fully justified in God in this situation because of the blood.
  2. I am continually in fellowship because of what Jesus accomplished and what He accomplished He will bring into completion,
  3. So I am not in condemnation here.

We may be paying off a debt that we are in condemnation to have to pay, but who gives a rip, if we are free inside? We are trying to be the free ones inside. The liberty comes from within and then it changes.

Here we see another illustration in the Lord of the Rings movie in another scene. It illustrates the power of God in us, the hope of glory to deliver. In the movie clip, the king is possessed by an evil spirit. The power of God comes and delivers him so that he comes to himself. He picks up his sword, after the king was delivered from the spirit, he declares “No more bloodshed.”

In much of the war, we can get caught up fighting stuff. Once we understand where we are, we step past it, we go on, and we start liberating.

In the movie, he needed to step back into being a king, not a revenge seeker. He needed to step back into his authority because that country needed to rise again and come back into their place of rule.

When Jesus entered into the earth and His ministry from the power of the Holy Spirit, He said that the spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; the proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind; to set at liberty those who are bruised and proclaim the acceptable year of Jubilee. That sound wasn’t heard by those He came to give it to first because they were caught in familiarity. They said, “We know Jesus, we know his parents, his sister, his brothers and we’ve heard about great things but we haven’t seen them for ourselves.” So, they are just stuck in their unbelief. And yet, He was there to liberate.

Holy Spirit has been brooding over this house, He’s brooding over each of our hearts. He knows the trauma we have been through. He knows what we have been brought through. The truth is, it doesn’t really matter what got us here, or why we went through it. This is because the outcome that is good for all is that there is no confidence in the flesh anymore.

Our faith is in Jesus Christ. We worship God in the spirit. We boast in Christ and we put no confidence in the flesh. This is the true circumcision of God! This is the church that is going to come forth from Israel and from the Gentile nations –a people who have come out from under the trappings of being flesh minded, flesh empowered, help me do it, I’ve got to do it… and start standing and breathing the fresh air of liberty!
