A Thankgiving full of Thanks Giving
As we step into Thanksgiving week, and the start of the holiday season, it’s easy to get swept up in the details of life—the to-do lists, the pressures of work, the needs of family, and the problems waiting for solutions. These things matter, but they can quietly pull our focus away from something even more important, which is to remember what God has already done for us.
When our minds become crowded with worry or busyness, gratitude can slip through the cracks. We can end up thinking more about our challenges than about the God who carries us through them.
Colossians 3:17 reminds us, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Thankfulness isn’t a side note in our walk with God—it’s central. It reorients our heart and brings us back into alignment with His goodness.
Philippians 4:6–7 goes even deeper, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ.”
That peace, the kind that guards both your heart and your mind, isn’t random. It’s a by-product of prayer wrapped in gratitude. Thankfulness clears a pathway for God’s peace to settle in and steady us.
So, this week, whatever you are doing, whatever you are saying, whatever you are praying—add thankfulness. Make it part of every moment. And like a loving parent who hears the grateful voice of their child, God will meet you with His attention, comfort, and a generous measure of peace for the journey ahead.
Happy Thanksgiving. May gratitude lead you closer to Him.
