In the first Chapter of Joshua, God commands Joshua to be strong and courageous so that he may be able to observe all that God spoke to Moses (Joshua 1:7), and to meditate on God’s Word, so that he would prosper.
To meditate is to murmur in pleasure or anger, to ponder, imagine, and to speak to yourself. I believe that meditation on God’s Word is what enabled Joshua to be strong and courageous.
Let’s practice with the first verses in Ephesians:
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. Ephesians 1:3-6
Inside of Christ:
- You are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.
- You are chosen before the foundation of the world.
- You are holy and without blame, in His love.
- You are adopted as a son or daughter, which brings Him pleasure.
- You are accepted in the Beloved – Jesus.
It continues in Verse 7: You are redeemed through His blood, and you are forgiven of all sin. It finishes in Verses 13-14: You received the Holy Spirit as a seal and guarantee of inheritance and redemption.
All these truths are inside of Christ. They are not by my might nor power, but by the Holy Spirit’s bringing understanding, revelation, and hope. Continue to mediate God’s word and be strong & courageous in Christ.
