“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life” (Jude 20, 21, NKJV).

Building ourselves up on our most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit is one of the most powerful and rewarding practices I know. Whether praying in tongues (something I find myself doing more and more these days) or praying inside the Holy Spirit as He unveils Jesus, in both instances, I am built up. In both ways, inside my prayers, the Holy Spirit announces revelations of Christ and His awesome wonders.

Faith is our foundation and Christ is the very foundation we build upon. This truth, experienced through prayer, is utterly transforming. The Glory of God, shining in our hearts through the face of Jesus Christ, illuminates and liberates. Praying in the Holy Spirit brings strength from Glory and fresh faith for the day.

Even more importantly, I get to find and experience the truth of Jude 21, to keep myself in the love of God. God’s love, poured into my heart by the Holy Spirit, vanquishes my fears and banishes them from my thoughts. By looking for the mercy of my Lord Jesus Christ, I experience the power of His love…hope! With His hope, I can expect good things; this is the fruit of love. His mercy is to love as punishment is to fear. Fear holds torment while love holds mercy; and mercy triumphs over judgment!

Love holds mercy. Love holds me in mercy and brings hope that does not disappoint because it’s rooted and grounded in His love for me. His love is full of mercy, grace, and always elicits great expectation in Him. Something wonderful is going to happen inside His love for me, inside His love for you! May we all grab hold of this by faith and keep ourselves in the merciful love of God.
