“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
As we close the door on the season at our Calle Suerte building, we recognize that we end a season of dedicated sowing. We gave our resources, our gifts, and our hearts, giving all that God had given us into the local body of Christ and our community. This Spirit lead season of sowing ends and the labor is done. Now, with giving hearts, we find ourselves in the most incredible place: waiting for God to provide the harvest.
Not that I have already attained or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:12-14)
We know we aren’t “perfected” or finished. But as Paul says in Philippians, we “press on.” Our focus isn’t on what we’ve achieved or what we’ve left behind. Instead, we are looking forward with Spirit lead determination to lay hold of the very purpose for which Christ Jesus laid hold of us.
This is a time for forgetting what lies behind. It’s easy to get stuck trying to reconcile past losses or to dwell on what could have been. But the call of God is an upward call, a forward-looking one. The pain, the questions, the memories—we release them all, choosing instead to reach forward to what is ahead.
Jesus said: “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” This isn’t a problem to be solved with our own strength but a reality to be met with prayer. The field is vast and ripe, filled with people who are “harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:36). They are ready for the Good News, but the workers are scarce.
Therefore, we must “pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers.” This is our collective purpose in this new season. We aren’t just waiting idly; we are actively seeking God’s heart for the world around us. We are praying for more hands, more voices, and more hearts to join in this crucial work.
Lord, help us to have Your eyes to see the harvest that is all around us. Give us hearts full of compassion, not of regret. Empower us to be the ones who not only pray for laborers but who are ready to become a part of that answer. Keep us from getting stuck in the past, and instead, help us to move forward with hope, faith, and love.
