The Light Shines in a dark place.

I am enjoying meditating in John’s Gospel, the Christmas story, this year. With our Year Through the Bible reading, the Word becoming flesh is resonating more to me than ever. God became man through Mary’s faith in His word, which He placed inside her womb by the Holy Spirit.

I believe we are in a season of the advent of Jesus to be seen in His church. Peter said the word spoken to us is a light that shines in a dark place and is to be kept until the day dawns and the morning star rises in our hearts. The living word of God brings me into partaking of the divine nature of God. The living word of God brings rest as it separates my soul from my spirit (outward man from my inward man) and discerns even the thoughts and intentions of my heart.

This Christmas, I am thanking God for the gift of His Son so that I could be saved, and for the gift of His word so that I can know the Son. “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.” 1 John 5:11
