As we approach Christmas, our focus is to complete Christmas well and look forward to the New Year. There are five things that I find helpful in finishing well.

  • Surrender
  • Humility
  • Reflection
  • Grace
  • Forgiveness

Surrender is acknowledging our inability to perform as we had hoped. It’s stopping from striving to pause and rest.

Humility is acknowledging our total dependency on the all-sufficiency of Jesus Christ. Only He can bring a different outcome. His grace is sufficient.

Reflection is looking at the big picture, pausing to see where we have come from, where we are present, and what we had hoped to accomplish. There are beautiful things that have happened that we often forget in the pressure of the moment. There are things we forgot that God wants us to surrender again.

Grace – Receiving His grace is in humility. His grace is sufficient; and His strength is made perfect in our weakness. Receiving grace, in our place of need, is our inheritance and our Lord’s delight.

Forgiveness is releasing the debts that have been acquired, where we have failed our expectations and where others have failed our expectations. Forgiveness releases us into His help, because we move from our efforts to fix and solve into His grace to completion.

Jesus is waiting to come to our aid and bring His completion into our incompletion. A pause at this moment can open us to experience Jesus and Hs overwhelming completeness.
