The covenant of forgiveness in Christ is the essence of the New Covenant. Jeremiah prophesied this covenant in Jeremiah 31:31-34, and the author of Hebrews confirmed this covenant in Hebrews 8:7-13.
Here it is in a nutshell –
First – God would put His laws in our minds and write them on our hearts. Holy Spirit led verse law restrained.
Second – God would be our God, and we would be His people. God reconciled us to Himself In Christ and reconciled Himself to the world in Christ.
Third – None of us teach each other, saying “Know the Lord,“ for all of us shall know God, from the least to the greatest. All of us shall know the Lord and be responsible for knowing the Lord.
Fourth – God knows us in forgiveness, “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
Genius! The covenant of Forgiveness. God knows us in His forgiveness in Christ Jesus. God took the one thing we all need and made it the essence of knowing Him and knowing each other. We discover His love in forgiveness. Being forgiven, we love one another, worship in gratitude, and live free in Christ.
