Today, Tuesday, September 17th, we are in the second day of our three days of Prayer and Fasting, September 16th – 18th. Thank you to everyone who is joining us in this season of sanctification as we finish our fortieth year as Jubilee Church and prepare to cross over this coming Sunday.
God’s Chosen Fast is found in Isaiah 58 and last week in our prayer watches this Chapter brought great comfort and hope for the days we are in. I encourage you to read the entire Chapter, listening to the Holy Spirit’s voice as He redirects us from selfishness to the restoration of streets in which to dwell.
It begins with the recognition of a nation delighting to know God but questioning why they have fasted, and why the Lord has not seen and taken notice. It’s selfishness. Fasting to get our way with God through afflicting ourselves.
The Fast God has Chosen is to undo burdens, bonds, and let the oppressed go free as we break every yoke. Sounds like a lot of releasing of heart and demands. It also includes sharing, covering, and returning to family.
From this posture our light shall break forth like the morning, the glory of the Lord our rear guard, as the Lord answers our cry, saying, “Here I am.”
Again, we are told to stop trying to control, pointing out faults of others, and speaking wickedness. Instead, we are to extend our souls to satisfy the afflicted souls of others. There, our light shall dawn in darkness and the Lord shall guide us continually, as we become like a well-watered garden.
Raise up, Repair, and Restore.
We are moving our will to His, honoring what He honors, speaking only what He says, delighting ourselves in the Lord. He will cause us to ride high above and enter, and feed on the heritage of Jesus Christ.
I like God’s Chosen Fast, it’s His way to remove strife, unforgiveness, and unbelief from my heart.
