I live a secret life that I get to share openly with you. As I discover the Lord in “the secret place of the Most High,” I am transformed (see Psalm 91:1). In time, what happens there finds its way out; out into the open, with open rewards confirming the truth of knowing God in secret.

Our Mess is His Message!

God loves to share the transformation of His children with everyone! After all, it’s not our righteousness in the law, but righteousness through faith in Christ; it’s not our power, or our godliness, or anything, but the righteousness of God by faith. So, our mess is His message. Our discoveries of Jesus in our humanity, and our attempts to work these discoveries out with Him, are glorious testimonies to Him! This is the word of our testimony: Our testimony is Jesus! So, here is a secret I want to share with you.

In His Glory, Jesus speaks. Through His words, we are impregnated and implanted with the Word of God, which will eventually change everything about everything!

Peter was a man who was led by Jesus into a transformation moment on the Mount of Transfiguration. It was there that he, James, and John witnessed Jesus’ face transformed into light, and His clothes became as white as snow. Elijah and Moses appeared next and spoke together with Jesus about His soon-coming departure that He would accomplish in Jerusalem. Overwhelmed in this vision, Peter blurted out nonsense from a place of fear, the old need-to-do-something-about-it syndrome!  “…Let us make three tabernacles for You…” (See Luke 9:33).

“While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud.  And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!”  When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen” (Luke 9:34-36, NKJV).

Being Overshadowed Changes Everything about Everything!

Overshadowed in Glory, the Father speaks, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!”  Peter, James, and John had become part of a holy moment in eternity for eternity. They had entered in, heard and seen, and now were “pregnant” with all that this moment had brought.

Years later, at the end of Peter’s life, He still referenced this moment, this experience in the secret place of His Glory. For that is what the “secret place” is: a place inside His GLORY. Where all is right; where all is God; where His voice is heard, and we are transformed.

Peter recounted it this way, “For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’ And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain” (2 Peter 1:16-18).

Proximity to God’s Glory Overshadow… So, What’s in Your Shadow?

Not only was Peter still talking about the power and coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, Peter had also carried it with him his entire ministry. During a season of great Holy Spirit outpouring, in demonstration of the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, Peter found that the Glory of God was overshadowing Him in healing and deliverance for any who got within proximity of His shadow. Not his earthly shadow, (that was a distance gauge) but God’s overshadow– His overshadow in Glory– so that people from all regions around Jerusalem brought the sick and the oppressed into the streets for Peter to pass by them (see Acts 5:14-16).

So, what’s the secret from this secret place? The secret is that any and all experiences with Jesus through the Holy Spirit (the manifest Glory of God on the earth!), are to be cherished and nurtured, valued and kept, so that they grow up to be fully matured and fully known in us. Like a pregnancy, where the child is fully present in the womb, but not yet fully developed, so the implanted Word of God is fully present in us, but not yet fully developed.

I have meditated these words, and many more, for years. I share freely and openly what the Lord has shown me about this secret life in the secret place at the 11 am service this past week. If you would like, please click here to watch or listen:

Sure Enough! The Morning Star, JESUS, Will Rise in Our Hearts!

Let me allow Peter to explain what He learned: “And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.” (2 Peter 1:19).  Yes, our receiving the Word of God confirmed and implanted may have initially left us feeling sick and weak–just as morning sickness can disrupt a woman during pregnancy!

But “take heed.” What happened years ago may seem as a distant star fading on the horizon, but take note, as a light shining in dark place. For there is coming a day when this light shall dawn as the day. The morning star, JESUS, shall rise in our hearts; and all He has said, and shown, and done, will be in you, in me, in us… for all to see! Our secret place and secret lives, immersed in His overshadowing Glory, will be an open reward!
