Jesus gave three promises for overcoming Peace and Joy on His way to Gethsemane, that are for us today.

My Peace I give to you.

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27, NKJV).

It is Jesus’ peace that we have access to; and it has nothing to do with the world. It is a peace that calms our troubled and fearful hearts. The world did not give this Peace (Jesus did); therefore, the world can not take it away.

My Joy may remain in you.

“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11, NKJV).

Jesus’ joy comes through Jesus’ words, and will remain in us. The purpose of His unshakeable Joy is found in hearing His words, so that His Joy may fill our Joy to fullness.

Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, NKJV).

Jesus’ words spoken to us, cause His Joy to remain, so that we may hold His Peace. The world is full of pressure (tribulation), but we are to be of good courage (cheer), because Jesus has overcome the world! Peace and Joy are our inheritance in Christ, and they are activated in our times of prayer; that’s where we hear Him speak. Every day I come into Christ, entering into His Peace and Joy, and stepping out of the troubles, fear, and pressures of the world. Sometimes it takes longer than others, but the fruit of His kingdom is well worth the time.
