Jesus came to earth by the Word made flesh.

I am listening to The Christmas Story. I take Matthew, Chapters One and Two, Luke, Chapters One and Two, and John, Chapter One. I push play and listen. I am persuaded that God does everything from His word spoken by the prophets and He wants me to yield to His word being made flesh.

Father sent His Son, Jesus, into a womb, without the security of a home, because a government ordered a census that required families to return to their lineage. Off go Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem. Why? Because the prophet had written, “But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judea, are not the least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you shall come a Ruler who will shepherd My people Israel”. Matthew 2:6

The Wise Men showed up around two years later and came to Jerusalem, the capital of Israel. They ask Herod, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?” This troubled Herod and all of Jerusalem. He knew that displacement had arrived. Herod wanted to stop this and sought to destroy the Son of God. God redirected the Wise Men on their travel plans and sent Joseph with Mary and Jesus to Egypt. Why? “That it might be fulfilled which as spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, ‘Out of Egypt I called Me Son.’” Matthew 2:15

Herod realized he had been deceived and set out to kill all male children in Bethlehem and all its districts two years and younger. Why? “Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying: ‘A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted because they are no more.’” Matthew 2:17, 18

Prophecies of scripture ordered Jesus’ life. I believe ours is too. Scripture must be fulfilled. To me, this means that I can trust the Lord for all things to become as He has declared beforehand that they, be fulfilled. Scripture is fulfilled in our hearing but can offend and frighten, as well as challenge and create envy and strife in our lives.

When I trust, I can let go. I can say, “Yes,” the “Will of the Lord be done.” Our lives are inside scripture, in Christ. This Christmas, rather than fighting, let us trust God that He is fulfilling His prophecies in us. Even if we must go where we do not want to, or are not invited to, where we think we should be, prophecy is being fulfilled.

Jesus, upon His resurrection, spoke these words to His disciples. “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” Luke 24:46, 47
