Sometimes, being alone with God is the scariest thing we can do.

Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day Genesis 32:24

Jacob was left alone, finally. After everything else, he could do to divert his death at the hands of his brother Esau. Twenty years had gone by since Esau had sworn to kill Jacob for stealing his blessing from his father Isacc. Now he was coming to meet Jacob with four hundred men. Jacob was afraid and divided his possessions and people into two companies to preserve one. He sent gifts of droves of animals, five droves in all, to appease Esau, his brother and then he moved his family across the brook of Jabbok and returned alone A Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.

Sometimes, the only answer is found in being alone in our struggle with God. Jacob knew he couldn’t let go of the Man. He wouldn’t let go of the man unless He blessed Jacob. Jacob’s blessing was his name change and acknowledgment by God that as a prince he had power with God and man. Israel was his new name. In times of trouble, there is only One who can help, God alone. But we must get alone with God for the wrestling out of our identity.

Moses was told to send the elders down the mountain after meeting together with God. Then the Lord spoke to Moses, Come up to Me on the mountain and be there: and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and the commandments which I have written, that you may teach them” Exodus24:12

Moses came up the Mountain to the cloud that covered the Mountain, the sight of which was like a consuming fire. He waited. He waited outside the cloud for six days. Then, on the seventh, the Lord called Him out of the midst of the cloud. Moses went into the midst of the cloud and was there on the Mountain for forty days. Moses had to be there for the Lord to give him what the Lord required. For six days, Moses stood outside the cloud of consuming fire until he was called inside.

Now, for many, it is our time to be alone with God, to wait on God, and to enter the fire of His glory. To be alone and wrestle with the Man and not let go until He blesses us.

Last week, the Lord brought to my remembrance three visions He gave me that illustrate this truth. We found the link on YouTube and shared it with our staff. I want to share it now with you. Please click here.
