Perfect peace in our perceptions

I shared this teaching last Wednesday and would recommend it to anyone who desires to live in perfect peace take a moment and watch/listen to the message. Click here

Three things we often neglect when we find ourselves being taken out of His peace and into distressing thoughts and imaginations are:

  1. The Meekness and gentleness of Christ
  2. The thoughts of our hearts are the battle lines
  3. To capture our thoughts into obedience to Christ is perfect peace.

The Meekness of Christ

Christ overcame the separation, lusts, and lies of Satan inside His union, trust, and the truth with the Father. His Meekness and lowliness of heart are rest to our souls. In returning and rest is our salvation and in quietness and confidence is our strength. He kept Himself in perfect peace because His mind was stayed on the Lord. Isaiah 26:3

The Thoughts of Our Hearts

The thoughts and imaginations are what are sent against us to bring doubts, fear, and unbelief. Thoughts are perceptions that have emotions, and images, good or bad, for Christ or against Christ. The thoughts and imaginations of our hearts are what defile us. The devil knows so he sows lies in order to take our hearts captive. 2 Corinthians 4:4

Capture Our Thoughts

A Stronghold is a fortress of feelings, doubts, and torments that resist us. Arguments inside us are the means to form these strongholds. Thoughts are what feed it all. We are commanded to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. That means my thoughts, imaginations, feelings, and such are to submit to the truth of who Christ is and rest there.

It may seem impossible, but it really isn’t, because we are in Christ and everything the Father accomplished in the Son is ours in Christ. We simply turn our attention toward the Lord, setting our minds on the Lord and His perfect peace comes. His perfect peace guards our hearts and minds/thoughts because we trust in the Lord.

Speaking His word, praising His name, and praying in tongues all move us back into Christ. We do not have to consider anything that breaks our focus on Christ. He is everything, everything else is a lie. 2Corinthians 2:11; 3:4; 10:5; 11:3, Hebrews 5:8, 9
