The Holy Spirit, and belief in the truth, brings sanctification into glory.
2 Thessalonians 2 contrast two moves of mankind. One, away from God called the “falling away.” The other is “obtaining the glory of our Lord, Jesus Christ.” What is central is that falling away comes as men reject the love of the truth and are given strong delusions instead. But obtaining the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ is through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. Reading the bible daily brings truth, love of the truth, and sanctification into glory, with the help of the Holy Spirit.
John 5 – 11
I love the book of John because it is like your grandpa who had walked with Jesus intimately and for over fifty-sixty years since His resurrection and writes a gospel full of Holy Spirit revelation of Jesus, as the Word made flesh. Each chapter will reveal Jesus Christ, His grace and truth in miracles, teaching, in the promise of Holy Spirit, the mark of a disciple – abiding in His word, the true shepherd, and the glory seen in Lazarus’ resurrection from the dead.
1 Thessalonians 3 – 5
Paul’s call to purity among brethren, brotherly love, an orderly life, and the comfort of Christ’s coming. The day of the Lord, rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and in everything give thanks. He who calls is faithful who will do it.
2 Thessalonians 1 – 3
The coming of the Lord to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe. The falling away, and the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Now may the Lord of peace, Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.
1 Timothy 1 – 3
Paul’s pastoral epistles are filled with kingdom rule inside the community of Christ’s body. Paul recounts his conversion as God counted him faithful and enabled him into ministry. He is a trophy of God’s grace. Fight the good fight of faith with prophecy and prayer. Paul lists the qualifications of overseers and deacons in Chapter Three.
Judges 10 – 17
We continue in the circle of apostasy. Salvation into idolatry, into captivity, into crying out in hard servitude to another judge/deliver sent to save Israel again. But it continues to grow worse as the four hundred years press on. From the birth of Samson till his death, Chapters 13-16 are gruesome. Then Chapter Seventeen is about Micah’s idolatry that led to a tribe’s idolatry in Chapter Eighteen.
Psalms 122 – 126
We are in the Ascension Psalms filled with faith, promise, and the turning of the captivity of Zion in Psalm 126
Ezekiel 35 – 40
We begin with the judgment of Mount Seir and then it’s off to the prophetic promise of blessing and renewal of Israel. Chapter Thirty-Seven is the vision of the Valley of dry bones and the reunion of Judah and Israel into one nation. Chapter Thirty-Eight and Thirty-Nine is the destruction of Gog, in its attempt to destroy Israel. Chapter Forty begins the description of the new temple that we refer to as “Ezekiel’s Temple,” because it has not been built yet. Next week, we will enter fully into these truths of the new millennium.
