All Freedom is in Christ

Today, we celebrate our nation’s independence from tyranny, almost two hundred and fifty years ago. Yet our freedom began many years before. In America, it began with a group of Pilgrims seeking religious freedom to worship as the bible was showing them.

All freedom is in Christ.

It was for Freedom that Christ set us free. Galatians 5:1 NASB

Beyond freedom to do as we choose, we were born from above into an inheritance the Father had chosen for each of us in Christ before time began. On our Nation’s Liberty Bell, in Pennsylvania, is cast the letters, “Proclaim LIBERTY Throughout all the Land unto all the inhabitants Thereof.” This verse comes out of Leviticus 25:9, 10, and is our church’s founding verse.

God gave Israel the land they possess by inheritance. Even when bad times came and the land was sold, every fifty years the land would be restored to the family’s inheritance as well as the children and any servitude anyone was in. It was the year of Jubilee!

Jesus stood up in His synagogue in Nazareth and found the place in Isaiah 61 that declared “Proclaim the favorable year of the Lord!” The year of Jubilee! After He read this, He sat down and declared “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Luke 4:21

Peter, many years later, declared, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5

Today we celebrate a freedom that cannot be lost. It is reserved in heaven for us as we are being kept by the power of God into salvation that is ready to be revealed. Let’s proclaim liberty to all today in Christ.

Men’s INHERITANCE this Saturday, July 8th, 7:30 am to 9:30 am: Enjoy the best breakfast in Camarillo with the greatest group of men in California. Ok, I am a bit partial, but how can I not be when the Lord has given us all His great inheritance in Christ?
