“And Peter answered Him and said, ‘Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.’ So He said, ‘Come.’ And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.” (Matthew 14:28-29)
Beloved,
In this season, God wants to send us forth into our new assignment. God has not lost track of any of us. He identifies us not with comfort but with contrast –He calls us to “Come follow Me.”
Right now, we are standing up and allowing God to call us up to follow Him. And follow means we are going to get on the same road with the Lord. We are already on the journey…the Lord now begins to redefine us here.
Beloved, open your hands, right now as you read this. Let’s make ourselves available to receive. Pray this with me:
Father,
We thank You for completing what You’ve begun. Thank you that You haven’t lost track of me. You may send me on international assignments, then find me, when I am off “fishing,” to redefine who I am. You know my job, my Social Security Number, including my income, my struggles, and where I am right now.
And You’re the One that has to come to me. I, too, move toward You…but when it comes to intervention, it’s You who comes to me. And when you come to me, You come with goodness. So I acknowledge, in the midst of what I’m in right now, that You, the good God, are coming to me with good things. Now, I welcome You, Good God, that You are coming to get my attention.
I acknowledge that we all need each other to say, “There is Jesus, go over there,” And Lord, when someone points it out to me, and I bear witness, that I will, like Peter, step on the water and run to where you are.
You speak to us about our great promises that we have. You address the great promises, from where we are trying to live. But Lord, I acknowledge that we don’t have the will-capacity to love humanity. But I can become an affectionate lover of God through friendship, fellowship and union.
Lord, I can’t make heroic decisions to turn and pay attention to someone else, to help them grow in their ways. Would you cause me, like Peter, to just recognize the shift that’s taken place…and that it’s now taking place on the earth. May I recognize You in a new way. May I hear Your voice that I can find the direction and that I can hear you say, “Follow Me.”
Lord, that’s what I want to hear afresh, anew. I acknowledge that it’s not about me…It’s about You…Lord, You’re just mixing everything up. Help us yield to the mix up…Help us, Lord. Now
beloved, as a simple act of faith, right there where you are as you read this, just thank Him. Thank Him for His faithfulness, His goodness, His willingness. Praise and glorify Him.
Thank You, thank You, thank You, Lord. This is the day You have made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. In the midst of joys or victories, or defeats, I will praise and thank You.
Lord, show me, give me now, the strategies of how to walk in this new season, even this holiday season that I am walking in…Where the oil is, where the meal is, where I can give, give, give, the little that I have. Tell me where to toss the net, Lord, how to get fruit in what I am doing.
And Lord God, where I have failed You, or where others have failed me, that forgiveness would flow and that I would let go…let go…just to let it go.
Lord, I say that in our gatherings, You are gathering. That You bring the fish and the loaves. That instead of me being stuck in what it is, that where is, how it should be or could be, or where I ought to be…that I
just say, “Lord, set the table,” and cause me to come like never before.
Lord, I call forth the “Peters,” I agree with the prophetic sound that it’s time, that not one Peter would rise and be the Pope of the church, but that we would arise and be shepherds in the church. I call forth that the Peters would come forth – they would be sent forth. I bless everyone around me. I bless anyone around me that makes me nervous, agitated, or jealous. I release them; it’s not about me. Cause me to follow You!
Release! Amen.
