“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Cor. 3:17)
We continue on our journey of the “reality” acknowledgment we are in, and the moving of heaven’s response. In Mark 4 we read the familiar story of the disciples in the boat with a sleeping Jesus. Their reality was that they were in a boat being violently tossed around as a “great” storm came. Their boat was being filled with water and the logical outcome is that it would sink.
On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” (Mark 4:35-40)
The apostles were familiar with the sea, storms and the outcome. They became afraid and wondered why Jesus was asleep. They tried to figure out why His response didn’t match what they thought He should be doing. They asked him, “Don’t you care???” Terror and fear cause us to feel alone. This was a satanic storm that came with the intent of destruction. Satanic storms come because we are carriers of promise.
Jesus is in our boat with us now, in all the circumstances of our reality, just as the king of the Kingdom of Heaven was in their reality. The Word Himself was in the boat!…and when He released His voice—Peace came, and immediately released authority over the reality.
The Lord then asked, “Where is your faith?” I told you where we were headed.
Beloved, reality-disruptions to our peace are inevitable. They can be divine or satanic. Either way, call on the name of Jesus and bring Him into the situation. Bring His peace and authority into your heart… and believe.
If you are going to move with what God is offering, you cannot try to figure it out with each step you take. You will go too slowly. God controls all aspects of the universe, the makeup of mankind, physics, quantum physics—everything. He holds it all, and it’s all framed inside His word. He can initiate a whole other wave of life to flood into our being. If our mind is preoccupied and busy trying to figure it out, we get locked up.
We are in a new season. There is excitement coming from heaven because it is being given permission to come and get involved in the earth. As in Revelation 7, these are the exciting thunderings, lightnings, voices, etc. that belong in the Kingdom of God. It’s not judgment or the anger of God, but the excitement of heaven calling its glorious liberation for planet earth—Glorious liberation to you and me.
Let go and call on His name, right now in your boat that seems too threatening to you. See Him in the boat with you—He’s inside you. Your storm is reality…but His glory is larger than anything the earth can hold. No storm can stop you or overtake you. He’s told you where you are headed. He will make sure you get there. Heaven is rejoicing over you right now.
