Thanksgiving is the will of God for us. The entire world problems that we are facing, I mean everything, can be linked back to the refusal to do two things:

Glorify God as God and be thankful.

Please read for yourself the list of the degeneration of mankind linked to the refusal in Romans 1:18-32. Notice that verse 21 is the hinge that opened the door to gross darkness: “Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” Roman 1:21

But the door can swing both ways. If darkness enters, through not glorifying God as God and not being thankful—then if we begin glorifying God as God and become active thanks givers, then light will shine in our hearts.

I have proven this truth in my own life so many times, over the last thirty years since I first saw it. Many of us will agree to the importance of praise and glorifying God as God. But what about being thankful for all things? What about all the bad that we see? It’s because God is God that we can be thankful in, and for, and through all things. Why? Because God is over all, through all, and in us all. He is sovereign; and He is causing all things to work together for good.

  • Thanksgiving is a heart of submission to the mission of God over us.
  • Thanksgiving is active trust in a merciful and faithful High Priest.
  • Thanksgiving is faith in action, not looking at the things as they appear, but into God’s goodness and grace.
  • Thanksgiving is a weapon that empowers praise.
  • Thanksgiving is the door into praise.

Join me in the Thanksgiving entrance into light! Thank God for everything. Acknowledge that He is over, through, and in all things. Call His goodness forth and show your faith by thanking Him for where you are right now. It’s not where we are that matters—It’s Whose we are.
