We are in the forty days of preparation for Pentecost. Jesus, “Through the Spirit”, gave commands to His apostles. “Through the Spirit”, He presented Himself alive after His sufferings. “Through the Spirit”, He spoke to them of the things of the kingdom of God. Through the Spirit, Jesus was preparing His apostles for the Holy Spirit’s ministry, which would soon lead, after He was taken up.

Through the Spirit, Jesus gives commands. We are in the new covenant of the Spirit not the letter; for the letter kills but the Spirit gives life. The Holy Spirit puts in our minds and writes on our hearts the commands of Jesus. This enables God to have a people of believing hearts, led by the Spirit in love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Through the Spirit, Jesus reveals Himself. Jesus is sitting as High Priest at the right hand of God, waiting expectantly for His enemies to be made His footstool. He is appearing in the presence of God over us. We approach the Father through Him, and Jesus saves us to the uttermost in His intercession over us. All this is communicated and demonstrated to us through the Holy Spirit.

Through the Spirit, Jesus speaks to us the things of the kingdom of God. Jesus is the king of the kingdom of God, judge, lawgiver, and king. Jesus is making known the kingdom of God to us in the Holy Spirit. For the kingdom of God is “Love, Joy, peace in the Holy Spirit.”

We are halfway to Pentecost. Giving God an hour a day in prayer and the Word is an important time for recalibration. I am personally starting every day anew, as I ask the Lord to show me what I do not know, lead me, through His Spirit, into truth I do not believe, and free me from the past—past lies, past sorrows, past traumas, and past victories.

We are entering into a new harvest. My prayer is for the Lord to begin with me. Harvest my heart into new faith, new hope, and new love, through His Spirit.
