It’s important to me!

I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. Luke 11:8 KJV

Jesus taught in prayer that importunity was vital to answered prayer. Importunity is rude or shameless asking, such as the friend who woke his friend at midnight because he needed to borrow a loaf to bread and wouldn’t leave his door until his friend got out of bed and gave him the loaf. Importunity can be easily remembered this way importunity–It’s Important to Me!

Later, as Jesus was heading to Jerusalem, He shared a parable “that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.” Luke 18:1b. This time he used the picture of an unjust judge and widow. The widow wanted vengeance from her adversary and the judge didn’t want to be bother. But, by her continual coming – It’s important to me! – The Judge avenged her.

Jesus, now resurrected as our High Priest, today makes intercession for us, as He holds our future, our destiny, and our promises before the Father as our inheritance. This hope of a sure and steadfast future is our fellowship behind the veil, our confession of hope that we hold fast without wavering. Why? Because He is faithful!

So we worship God in His faithfulness as we press God in our importunity!

It’s important to me for this to be accomplished and it is assured me because of Your faithfulness.

Faithfulness and importunity – The two power tools of prayer.

God wants to see us continually coming, expecting results (that’s faith). He also wants us to hold fast our confession of hope because He his faithful (that’s hope). When we exercise the two with patience we stay focused. “You are my friend and a good one at that. So, You won’t mind me coming with expectancy until the need is met. I won’t accuse You either of not caring or being unfaithful because Your promise was given to me in Your faithfulness.”

God is faithful and will fulfill His promise to me – and I am not leaving until you do!

I can’t lose! I come daily with expectancy of results and holding fast my confession of hope in His faithfulness. Patience has its perfect work, my soul is saved, my need is met, and praise rises with thanksgiving for His goodness, grace, faithfulness, and truth.
