“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
In Roman’s 12:2, we are exhorted to not be conformed to this world. This word means– to fashion alike, to conform to the same pattern.
We are being formed to the new and releasing our old way of thinking. We are being “unstuck” to think outside of our way of thinking.
We don’t want to be conformed to the world. Our desire is to be conformed to Christ. But, we may continue to use our old way of thinking and our old methods of process, expecting a different outcome.
God told us to meditate and keep before us His word and see it before us. We may not go there, because it isn’t a natural place for us to go. Here we are to use our Imagination. Imagination is unlike fantasy or pretend.
Imagination means- the faculty or action of forming new ideas, or images or concepts of external objects not present to the senses.
When do we use our imagination? In looking at Philippians 4:8-9, we read:
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”
I can be totally trusting when imagining things that are true or noble or just…like a child exploring “places” that are without limitations –where all things are possible.
In Matthew 19:26, Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Today, let’s think on the things mentioned using our childlike imagination.
