“In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.” (Ephesians 1:11-12, NKJV)
In Christ, we have an inheritance. God appointed the Son as heir of all things. We are given a portion in Christ according to His purpose and will. Nothing we do can undo what we have in Christ. We can enter His rest in Christ; we have an inheritance in Christ, and it is brilliant!
Trust is the praise of His glory. Trust is full restoration into glory, where we no longer fear, and strive, and hide. Instead, we trust in Christ, and this becomes praise to His glory. Adam and Eve were thoroughly cared for in the glory of God. We are too. We learn to place our faith in Christ and His inheritance given us. It does not matter so much that we know what it is, but rather that we know we have a place in Jesus. Secure in this truth, we allow God to bring us forward and not strive in fear.
The Holy Spirit has sealed us and is the guarantee of our inheritance. Until the redemption of God’s purchased possession, the Holy Spirit seals (Ephesians 1:13-14). The Lord is committed to completion. He promises, and He fulfills, and can perform what He promises. The Lord authors our faith and finishes our faith. He publishes our story of faith. He begins a good work, and He finishes good work. The Lord is merciful and faithful.
Trust is resting inside of glory. It is praise to God. Trust is to the praise of His glory. Hebrews 4:11-13 is an excellent place for prayerful meditation to experience the rest of God!
